ABOUT CATHARINE CRAWFORD, M.Ed. (Counselling Psychology)

Catharine is a Certified Psychotherapist with OACCPP, the Ontario Association of Counsellors, Consultants, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists. Catharine has 17 years experience in the helping profession, including work in hospitals, clinics, schools, with humanitarian agencies, and in private practice. She is a mother of three, with a keen interest in alternative learning and parenting styles.

In Catharine's practice, she works with clients in addressing depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, marital and relationship communication, healthy and sustainable boundaries, eating disorders, self- esteem, addictive behaviours, post-military adaptation, teen identity and development, parenting, work & life balance, sexuality, gender, and personal growth and transition. She sees adults and couples, as well as youth approximately age 12 and up.

Catharine's therapeutic style is affirming, validating, and holistic. Through empathic listening, re-framing, guidance, mindfulness, and stress-reduction techniques, clients are assisted in communicating their experience, identifying their inner resources for healing, and supported in creating healthier patterns for their lives.

Catharine has completed training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma, distressing life events, anxiety, and self-esteem. Learn more about EMDR.

Catharine is an associate of Dr. Shari Geller, Clinical Psychologist. Clients with extended health benefits for Clinical or Registered Psychology can receive psychotherapy sessions with Catharine under the supervision of Dr. Geller.
