Registered Massage Therapy

This service is offered at Maple Shores Health Centre by Zachary Bolton, Nichole Barker, and Jakub Kowalcyk.

What is Registered Massage Therapy?
Registered Massage therapy consists of a variety of hands-on techniques that is used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. These tissues include muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, and joints.

What are the benefits of Registered Massage Therapy?
Registered Massage therapy treatment is used to develop, maintain, and/or rehabilitate physical function. An array of discomforts stemming from stress, muscular overuse, and many chronic pain syndromes can be relieved and prevented with massage therapy. Registered Massage therapy has therapeutic effects on the body as it acts on the muscular, nervous, and circulatory systems.

Different types of Registered Massage Therapy Treatments

Swedish Massage — This is a gentle form of massage that uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping. It helps you feel relaxed and energized.

Deep Tissue Massage — This massage technique uses focused, more-forceful strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It's commonly used to help with muscle damage from injuries.

Rehabilitation Massage — A form of massage used to treat specific new, recurring, and long-term injuries that restore function and reduce pain.

Relaxation Massage - Relaxation massage is a smooth, gentle treatment that promotes general relaxation, relieves some muscular tension and increases circulation. This service is only offered by Nichole Barker and is offered during a 60 or 90 minute session.

Acupuncture in Massage — Just like massage therapy, acupuncture is excellent for pain relief and decreasing muscle spasm. Acupuncture improves blood flow to an area, pushing out fluids that may contain chemicals that cause pain and discomfort. This is performed by Zachary Bolton, RMT.
