Treatments aim to find comprehensive pain management strategies and restore function through massage therapy, acupuncture, remedial exercise and narrative medicine. Each treatment may include any or all of the treatment tools depending on client experience and pain characteristics.

Zachary’s foundation to treatment comes from a variety of backgrounds; starting at the of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science, Honours Kinesiology. Courses in nutrition, biomechanics, and cognitive psychology created a strong understanding of how the body moves through space. Furthermore, Zachary took co-operative learning placements with Tony Kaake; Registered Massage Therapist and Manual Osteopath as well as Ron Moss; Physiotherapist, to begin understanding clinical practice and interprofessional approach to care.

With a goal of providing clinical care, Zachary began the Accelerated Learning Massage Therapy program at Royal Canadian College of Massage Therapy, even before his university exams were completed. Aimed at graduates of health care related fields, this course allowed for quick entry into providing care. This was an intensive course that focused on the practice of massage therapy and understanding how manual therapies can restore function.

Shortly after beginning clinical practice Zachary saw great value in completing the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture course from McMaster University. Taking a step back from the mechanics of the body, and focusing on the connections between, allowed for more informed clinical decisions. In addition, expanding his clinical lens began to shine a light on the importance of comprehensive pain care.

After years of clinical experience, searching for a comprehensive approach to pain management, Zachary completed his Master’s of Clinical Sciences, Interprofessional Pain Management with the University of Western Ontario. Looking at effective pain management strategies across all fields illustrated the need for interprofessional collaboration, the strength of bio-psycho-social care and the importance of pain perceptions.

Zachary has led the team in multiple discussions around interprofessional care and emphasizes the strength of communication in all healthcare settings.

Zachary is a lifetime learner and athlete; acting as a Trainer for the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks Hockey Club and a player on the Kincardine Highlanders Masters Lacrosse Club.
